Israeli bulldozers, accompanied by military forces, demolished 26 homes and agricultural structures in the village of Al-Tuwani in the northern West Bank on Tuesday.

The demolitions have left several Palestinian families homeless and sparked widespread condemnation from local leaders and rights organizations.

The mayor of Aqraba, under whose jurisdiction Al-Tuwani falls, reported that the demolitions targeted structures made of concrete and corrugated metal, citing the lack of building permits in Area C as the justification.

Area C, which constitutes over 60% of the West Bank, is under full Israeli control as per the Oslo Accords, and obtaining building permits is nearly impossible for Palestinians.

The mayor added that families are now shelterless, prompting urgent efforts to provide temporary tents and relief for those affected.

In response to the demolitions, the head of the Palestinian Authority's Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission issued a statement condemning the actions as an attempt to forcibly displace residents of Al-Tuwani.

He called on international and human rights organizations to intervene and protect Palestinian civilians from ongoing violations by the Israeli military and settlers.

On the same day, Israeli forces detained 40 Palestinians, including former prisoners, during raids across the occupied West Bank.

The mass arrests were confirmed in a joint statement by the Palestinian Authority's Prisoners Affairs Commission and the Palestinian Prisoners Club.
