On Monday, US pharmaceutical company Moderna said that the Israeli Ministry of Health authorized the use of its COVID-19 vaccine, marking the vaccine's third authorization and the first outside North America.
"The Israeli Ministry of Health has requested six million doses and the first deliveries are expected to begin in January," Moderna said in a statement.
Moderna has obtained a license for its vaccine in the US and Canada, and additional licenses are currently under review in the European Union (EU), Singapore, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom (UK).
Late Monday, the Israeli Ministry of Health announced that 7518 new cases of Covid-9 had been recorded, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 445845.
