Iraq Bans Flights to 7 Countries over Fears of Coronavirus New Strain

Today, the Iraqi Council of Ministers approved a number of preventive measures to confront the new strain of Coronavirus while preventing travel to seven countries.

The Cabinet urged citizens to wear face masks, adhere to social distancing measures, and prevent travel to each of the following countries Britain, South Africa, Australia, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Iran, Japan, and any other country determined by the Ministry of Health in the future.

The Cabinet also prohibited the entry of arrivals from those countries, except for Iraqis, and obligating them to compulsory quarantine for a period of 14 days in places designated for this purpose to ensure that they are not infected with the new strain of Coronavirus.

Moreover, those citizens will not be allowed to mingle with others until it is proven that they are not infected with the disease by examining them with PCR for two weeks.

The Cabinet continued that it also acknowledged securing the first payment of $3001050 to prepay it to Pfizer, as well as securing the remaining amount of the total cost of the vaccine, which is $15005250.

It also decided to close social facilities for two weeks, starting from December 4, 2020, shutting all land border crossings, except for emergency cases.
