Upon his arrival in the Indian capital, New Delhi, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi called on both India and Pakistan to exercise restraint and work to prevent the escalation of tension in the region.
Araghchi said in a press statement upon his arrival in New Delhi on Wednesday evening, May 7, at the head of a high-ranking diplomatic delegation, that his visit had been planned for some time, and was primarily aimed at convening the joint economic committee between Iran and India.
He emphasized that his country regularly holds political consultations with the Indian side on important regional and international issues.
Araghchi added that he is scheduled to meet with his Indian counterpart to discuss developments in the region.
