In a startling revelation, an investigation published by the Israeli newspaper "Haaretz" on Tuesday alleged that Yehuda Fakh, the commander of the Israeli military's 252nd Division, conducted unauthorized operations in the Gaza Strip and permitted his brother to form a special demolition and sabotage unit operating outside the army's formal chain of command.

The report cites an unnamed Israeli officer who claimed that Fakh allowed his brother to assemble a group of soldiers and civilians resembling the "Hilltop Youth" settlers, known for their radical actions. This ad hoc force reportedly operated with the goal of widespread destruction, aiming to demolish as many buildings as possible in Gaza.

The officer further disclosed that Fakh provided his brothers with preferential treatment, granting them access to sensitive areas such as the Netzarim axis, south of Gaza City, without proper documentation or oversight.

This alleged autonomy and lack of accountability have raised significant concerns within the Israeli military establishment.

### **Reactions to the Allegations**

The revelations have sparked outrage among human rights organizations and political figures, who have called for a thorough investigation into Fakh's actions and the activities of the rogue unit.

Palestinian officials condemned the allegations, describing them as evidence of systemic abuse and disregard for international law in Gaza.

An Israeli military spokesperson declined to comment on the specific allegations but stated that the army takes any breach of protocol seriously and will investigate if warranted.

### **Context of the Allegations**

The Gaza Strip, one of the most densely populated areas in the world, has long been a flashpoint in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Israeli military operations in the area often draw international scrutiny, with accusations of disproportionate use of force and violations of human rights.

This investigation adds to a growing list of controversies surrounding Israeli military conduct in Gaza. If the allegations against Fakh are proven, they could have far-reaching implications for the military's credibility and its internal oversight mechanisms.

### **Calls for Accountability**

Israeli lawmakers and activists have demanded transparency and accountability, urging the government to hold those responsible accountable. "This is not just a violation of military protocol; it is a violation of ethical and legal standards," said one prominent Israeli human rights lawyer.

As the story unfolds, the spotlight remains on the Israeli Defense Forces to address these allegations and ensure that rogue operations are not allowed to undermine the rule of law.
