Int'l Olympiad on Financial Security Opens in Krasnoyarsk

The final stage of the International Olympiad on Financial Security opened Tuesday at Siberian Federal University, drawing around 600 school and university students from 40 countries, according to TV BRICS. 

Participants from the BRICS, CIS, and SCO blocs, as well as delegations from Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa, will compete in academic contests and attend lectures, masterclasses, and roundtables aimed at improving financial, legal, and digital literacy.

In a message to the opening ceremony, Russian President Vladimir Putin described the Olympiad as part of “systemic, multifaceted work” to expand access to knowledge and strengthen global cooperation on financial security. He noted the event’s growing international reach.

The five-day programme also features cultural events, including campus tours, a festival of Russian folk games, and a “phygital” chess tournament.

Launched in 2021, the Olympiad is designed to prepare young people to confront modern challenges such as financial fraud, misinformation, and cyber risks.
