Multiple international airlines have suspended flights to Israel following a missile attack on Sunday, citing safety concerns amid escalating regional tensions.
German airline group Lufthansa announced that all flights to Tel Aviv have been suspended until May 6. A spokesperson said the decision was made in response to the current security situation in the region.
Delta Air Lines also canceled its scheduled flight from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport to Tel Aviv on Sunday, along with the return flight from Tel Aviv on Monday. Additionally, Air India suspended its services to Tel Aviv through May 6.
The flight cancellations follow a missile launch from Yemen toward Israeli territory, as confirmed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
According to a military statement, air raid sirens were activated in several regions, including areas surrounding Ben Gurion Airport and central Israel.
The IDF reported that interception attempts were made, and there are preliminary reports indicating that a projectile fell in central Israel. The military noted that further assessments are underway to determine the extent of the impact.
Residents in Jerusalem and near Tel Aviv reported hearing explosions, while journalists from Agence France-Presse (AFP) confirmed that blasts were audible in various locations across the country.
