Media reports indicated, on Saturday, that Argentina and Inter Miami star Lionel Messi may have a run in Europe for a final time to prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to the popular Spanish outlet Marca, Inter Miami owners David Beckham and Jorge Mas are working on extending Messi’s contract, which is set to expire in December 2025.
The Spanish outlet added that the new contract includes a significant salary increase for Messi, along with the option for him to return to play in Europe again.
The report also indicated that Inter Miami plans to allow the Argentine legend to go on loan to a European club in the final months of 2025 and early 2026 to ensure he is physically ready for Argentina’s World Cup campaign.
