Omnia, the daughter of renowned Egyptian superstar Iman El Bahr Darwish, shocked his fans across the world Monday as she shared the silent battle her father has been facing.
She took to Facebook to share her agony over his illness, saying: "History will bear witness that this was what has become of Iman El Bahr Darwish.”
The post included a photo showing the acclaimed singer ravaged by disease and lost excessive weight loss.
Fans were left heartbroken upon hearing the news and poured out their love and concern for El Bahr Darwish. Wishing him a speedy recovery and get well soon.
In a phone-in with "MBC Masr", she provided an update on her father's health condition.
"He has been ill for a year and a half or two years after an occurrence of a crisis and he is receiving treatment at home and not the hospital," Omnia said.
She asked everyone to pray for her father, adding: "Some contacted father, including Mostafa Kamel, but I have yet to communicate with him,".
"No one has contacted my father for a while, I don't remember how long. I didn't reply to anyone yesterday nor did I contact anyone, but really, a lot of people tried to contact me,".
The United Media Services (UMS) Company announced that it would sponsor the medical treatment of the acclaimed singer in appreciation of his distinguished career.
The prominent singer, born on March 18, 1955, is a multi-talented artist whose talents vary between acting and writing to singing and composing music.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Alexandria.
Darwish began his music career by forming a singing choir during university to perform music originally composed by his grandfather, great Egyptian composer-musician Sayed Darwish.
In 2021, El Bahr Darwish suffered a stroke and suffered hemiplegia, then recovered and regained his ability to walk again.
