Russia's representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov, said on Saturday, that direct talks between Russia, Ukraine and IAEA on the establishment of a protection zone for the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (NPP) are "impossible".
"Progress on this issue could have been faster if tripartite talks had taken place, but this is impossible due to the current state of Russian-Ukrainian relations," Ulyanov said.
Earlier, The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, said on Saturday that the situation around Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (NPP) remains fragile and potentially dangerous.
The situation at the nuclear power plant in Zaporizhzhia NPP remains unstable, fragile and potentially dangerous, and we are doing everything we can to prevent a nuclear accident there," Grossi said - in a statement.
"The International Atomic Energy Agency is also working to reduce potential risks at plants in Ukraine," he added.
