The Houthis announced launching a missile and drone attack on Israel and targeting Ben Gurion Airport, following an Israeli attack on Yemen and raids on Sanaa Airport.
The Houthis said in a statement, "In response to the Israeli aggression on our country, the missile force in the Yemeni armed forces carried out a qualitative military operation targeting Ben Gurion Airport in the occupied Jaffa area with a hypersonic ballistic missile, the Palestine 2," stressing that the missile reached "its target despite the enemy's secrecy."
On its part, the Israeli army confirmed intercepting the missile before it reached the country's airspace.
The Houthi operation came after Israel launched raids on areas they control in northern and western Yemen, targeting Sanaa Airport in particular, as well as bases, power plants, and seaports.
The raids resulted in the deaths of 6 people, 4 of them at the airport, according to the Houthis.
The Director-General of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, announced that he was at the airport during the strike, noting that "one of our plane's crew members was injured."
