Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar received on Wednesday Japanese ambassador to Cairo Masaki Noke at the ministry headquarters.
At the outset of the meeting, Abdel Ghaffar hailed the deeply-rooted ties between Cairo and Tokyo, stressing on Egypt’s keenness to enhance cooperation between both countries in various fields, especially in higher education, science and technology ones.
Moreover, the Egyptian minister pointed out to the importance of dispatching a large number of Japanese experts to Egypt to transfer their know-how and expertise to their Egyptian counterparts.
On his part, the Japanese ambassador recounted the results of the fruitful cooperation with the Egyptian universities either in graduate scholarships programs or experience exchanging between the Japanese and Egyptian professors.
“Japan is keen to activate cooperation between both countries in various fields in the coming period, especially in the scientific projects,” he confirmed.
In addition, the Japanese diplomat invited Abdel Ghaffar to attend the activities of the Japanese-African forum for science, technology, and Innovation which is annually held under the supervision of the Japanese government.
This event brings together a large number of world’s countries.
Noteworthy, Japan considers Egypt a key player in the Middle East and a vital part of its diplomacy in the region. The two heads of government have been known to support each other on issues pertaining to the peace process in the middle east.
The two countries maintain a "Joint Committee" dedicated to exploring developments in areas of mutual interest to the two countries.
