Hennery Kissinger, US veteran diplomat and former Secretary of State, said that the United States of America (USA)  should understand with China to avoid a complicated conflict with the Asian giant and  to ensure security in the Asian  continent and the Pacific Ocean.

Kissinger warns of a perilous period similar to that preceded the First World War (WWI).

He addressed, via Zoom App., a forum held at the Royal Institute for International Affairs in London.

He stressed that it is an important mater for the USA and its western allies to reach an understanding with China over a new world system.

Kissinger added that if the West couldn't reach such an understanding the world will drift to a situation resembles that one in Europe preceded the WWI when immediate solutions were provided for conflicts but some of them went out of control.

He went on to say that matters now become more threatening and dangerous as China and the West acquire most developed amour that can lead to destructive conflict.

The veteran diplomat stressed that USA will possibly find difficulty in negotiating a foe like China which may super  pass the West in some economic and scientific fields.

He explained that other mater is whether China accepts such a new system.

He praised China's ability to organize her internal affairs to attain scientific progress led by the state so the West should upgrade performance.

Kissinger indicated that China's economic power doesn't mean that she attains supremacy in all fields through the current century.

Kissinger, 97 years, had deep influence on some international events in the 70s of the 20th century when he was  US Secretary of State under two Republic Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford.

On the other hand, US President Joe Biden said that  he told his Chinese counterpart that the USA doesn't intend to confront China.

Biden said during a press conference on Friday, that the USA insists that China must adhere to international principles regarding fair competition and balanced trade.
