Hawaii wildfires death toll surpassed 106, with more than 1300 missing, authorities announced on Wednesday.

Maui Police Department named the earliest victims of the deadly wildfires in Hawaii. Four persons among the named victims belonged to the same family.

Earlier Josh Green, Hawaii Governor, said: "101 lives have now been lost," Josh Green said, increasing the previously reported toll.

According to authorities, more than a quarter of the devastated areas of the disaster zone has been searched, adding, that trained dogs to look for bodies among the ashes were used.

Green asserted that, unfortunately, the final numbers would be tragic, as the death toll will be significantly higher.

The latest reported death toll made Hawaii wildfires the deadliest one in more than a century in the history of the US.

US President Joe Biden said that he will travel to Hawaii "as soon as he can" but he has concerns that doing so would divert resources and attention from the humanitarian response.

"I don't want to get in the way. I've been to too many disaster areas," Biden said. "I want to be sure we don't disrupt ongoing recovery efforts."

He added that "all available federal assets" would be used for recovery efforts.
