Egyptian actor Hamdy El Marghany announced Monday via Instagram stories that he tested positive for the coronavirus.
In a statement on Tuesday, a source close to the actor revealed that he discovered his infection when was shooting his new film "Zombie" nearly 5 days.
The source added that he is currently home isolating and undergoing the treatment protocol.
Production on the film was suspended until the end of the isolation period.
The actor's wife, actress Esraa Abdelfattah, had also contracted the virus.
El Marghany was last seen in the films “Mama Hamel” and “Dedo”, the latter is set to get a sequel treatment.
The sequel will feature the original cast, which also includes Bayoumi Fouad, Karim Fahmy, Huda El Mufti, Ahmed Fathi, Mohamed Tharwat, Noor Kadry, and others.
The comedy film was produced by Ahmed El Sobky and helmed by Amr Salah from a script by Fahmy.
The plot centers around Dedo, a young man who along with his friends, decides to rob a wealthy scientist, who later discovers their evil plan and shrinks them into fingertips sizes through one of his science experiments.
He is also set to appear will star alongside El Mufti and Mohamed El Sharnouby in the film “Farq Khibra”.
