Jumah Kinda, advisor to the Sudanese prime minister, Abdullah Hamdok, confirmed that the army is committed to not escalating with Ethiopia.
Kinda added, in statements to the Al-Arabiya network today, Tuesday, that Addis Ababa is trying to turn the border issue into a conflict , pointing out that Khartoum rejects any talk of conflict or border demarcation.
He indicated that the Sudanese army did not enter their territory, stressing that it is spread within its territory and not in disputed lands.
A Sudanese official said earlier that the government will go to international arbitration if mediation fails with Addis Ababa, due to the bombing of the borders between the two countries yesterday, Sunday.
On Monday, the Sudanese Minister of Defense, Yassin Ibrahim, said that the recent Ethiopian attacks on the Sudanese army had displaced the residents of 30 villages from the Al-Fashaqa area, stressing that there must be a link between the Renaissance Dam negotiations and what is happening on the borders.
Ibrahim added, in statements to the Al-Arabiya channel: "There is no border dispute with Ethiopia until we negotiate it, and their army fights in the border areas, not the militias."
"Our borders with Ethiopia are clear and stipulated in international agreements, and they must stop launching attacks on civilians in misery," he said.
