The Greek Cultural Centre in Cairo is organizing a celebration on the occasion of its 20th anniversary, to celebrate its work over twenty years under the auspices of the Greek Embassy in Egypt and the Greek Society in Cairo.
During the 2 decades, the centre contributed to the dissemination of the Greek language and culture, and to the development of cultural relations and interactions between the two friendly peoples, by organizing hundreds of cultural events, in cooperation with Greek and Egyptian cultural institutions, and with the participation of artists and scholars from both countries,
The centre also contributed to the graduation of thousands of students of the Greek language, both as a foreign language or as a mother tongue, through the Greek Language Department of the Center, which is recognized by the Greek Ministry of Education.
The 20th-anniversary celebration of the establishment of the Greek Cultural Centre in Cairo includes the following activities:
- The inauguration of the headquarters and facilities of the Greek Cultural Center, after its complete renovation, with the generous support and patronage of Ekaterini Belfante-Sofiano, who is one of the great benefactors of the Greek Society in Cairo. The Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria granted her several honors and honorary titles.
- Holding an exhibition of paintings by the famous Greek artist Christina Papoulias, with the honorary participation of the great Egyptian artist and intellectual Wajih Wahba.
- A musical performance of selections from Greek music, presented by the artist Mohamed Hassouna on the piano, with the participation of "Bjork Oskarsdottir" on the violin, and Dora Mastaka on the saxophone.
The celebration activities will start in the special events hall of the Greek Cultural Center in Cairo, on Thursday, May 11, at seven o’clock in the evening, and this will be followed by a reception with generous support and sponsorship of the Greek Center Club in Cairo.
The activities are also supported by the construction company "Archirodon", which is one of the sponsors of the celebration.
