The Media Center of the Council of Ministers revealed that there is no truth to the reported news regarding the issuance of a decision to cancel all ration cards and replace them with the “unified card” starting from the first of next August.
The ministry stressed the continuation of the ration cards without cancellation, with regular disbursement of ration courses and subsidized bread through them through various ration outlets.
The Ministry stated that the "unified card" system will be applied experimentally in Port Said Governorate, as soon as the technical experiments are completed.
The Ministry indicated that the unified card aims to simplify the package of services provided to citizens.
Those services include catering services, comprehensive health insurance, and postal services as a first stage, provided that the card includes providing the rest of the services such as pension payments, transportation, banks, and other electronic payment services in the coming stages.
