In a bid to boost the movement of trade and turn Egyptian seaports into global ones, the government discussed measures to simplify the customs clearance process at Egyptian ports.
This came during a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Tuesday, which was attended by senior officials from state bodies including the Central Bank of Egypt, the General Organization for Veterinary Services, the National Food Safety Authority, the Egyptian Customs Authority, and the Maritime Transport Sector.
According to Cabinet Spokesman Sameh El-Kheshen, the total value of released goods from January 1 to September 30 was $53.7 billion.
The total value of strategic commodities released within the same period reached $14.3 billion, while the total value of released production inputs stood at $24.8 billion. In September alone, goods worth $5.9 billion were released.
