Google Marks Madiha Kamel's Birth Anniversary

Search engine Google is celebrating 73rd anniversary birth of the Egyptian Madiha Kamel.

While studying at Ain Shams University, she took part in theater and radio sketches. Her earliest on-screen roles came in the mid-1960s in films such as; A Girl Like No Other and 30 Days in Prison, in which she appeared opposite the great actor and producer Farid Shawqi. Known for her beguiling charm and enchanting dance moves, Kamel soon became a star.

Her fame definitely peaked in the 1970s, and she was known for her dancing, including belly dancing at this time.

On stage Madiha Kamel partook in various plays; “Hello Shalaby”, “Helw al-kalaam i.e. Sweet talk”, “Al-gabal al-daa’e’. The lost mountain”, “Le’ba esmaha al-felous . A game called money” and “Yowm ‘aassef geddan i.e. A very stormy day”.

In 1992, Kamel retired so she could spend time with her ailing mother and her daughter Mirhan; she was married three times.
