Several gold traders called for the necessity of unpacking the gold ounces and coins from plastic cases, especially since some fake products appeared in the market, to ensure the integrity of the karat and that it is free of any copper filling.

Abdel-Al Salima, deputy head of the Gold Division at the Kafr El-Sheikh Chamber of Commerce said that the market includes some companies that rely on cashback on gold bars and coins, whether they are covered in a plastic case or not.

Cashback returns the stamp fees and part of the workmanship to a customer, when they decide to sell the product to the same seller.

The deputy head added that the customer has the right to examine the gold and ensure the purity of the karat, adding that there is a modern device that analyzes gold, by placing it on the device, and immediately the purity appears.

In the past, "Cheshna" was applied to analyse gold, where a part of the ounce or coin was cut and analyzed.

Salim stressed that the decision to cancel the packaging requires a decision from the government to protect the consumer and prevent fraud with the gold karat.

He indicated that ounces are 24K of purity, while the 8g coins are of 21K.

Meantime, Ehab Wasef, head of the gold division at the Federation of Industries said that the packaging of bullion and coins is a global idea, and there is no problem in packaging.

He added that there are no cases of fraud in bullion or coins, as some have promoted on social media. "All 24K ounces are intact and there is no problem in them."
