GOEIC: Egypt's Non-Oil Exports Record $ 4.104 Bln.

CAIRO, Mar. 3 (SEE)- The General Organization for Import and Export Control (GOEIC) said the value of Egyptian non-oil exports amounted to $ 4.104 billion in the first two months of 2019, including $ 3.143 billion in industrial exports and $ 961 million in food exports.

"Egypt's non-petroleum exports for February 2019 accounted for $ 2.061 billion, of which $ 1.532 billion were industrial exports and $ 529 million were food exports," Ismail Jaber, head of the Industrial Development Authority said.

According to Jaber, Arab countries accounted for 37.3 percent of the value of non-oil exports, worth $1.532 billion, followed by EU countries at $ 1.228 billion, the United States at $ 290 million, and non-Arab African countries reached $ 220 million. The value of exports to the rest of the world was estimated at $ 832 million.

He pointed out that the growth in exports was mainly led by 5 sectors including the Export Council of Medical Industries (ECMI), which recorded $ 44 million compared to 33 million dollars in the corresponding month last year with a growth rate of 33.3 percent, and the Leather Export Council Of Egypt (LEC) at an estimate of $ 8,187 million Compared with $ 7.859 million at the same period last with a growth rate of 4.2 percent.

Exports of the Agricultural Export Council grew to reach $ 284 million in February compared to $ 260 million last year, with a growth rate of 9.2 percent.

Meanwhile, the food export council (FEC) reported $ 296 million with a growth rate of 25.9 percent.

In addition, the Export Council of Books and Artistic Works recorded $1.441 million with an increase of 11.3 percent.
