Vice Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Tourism Affairs, Ghada Shalaby, inaugurated the 66th edition of the Diarna Handicrafts and Heritage Exhibition at Cairo Festival City Mall in New Cairo. The exhibition, which is held under the slogan "Egypt Speaks Literally," was inaugurated yesterday evening by Dr. Nevine El-Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, in the presence of Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, and Major General Hisham Amna, Minister of Local Development.

The exhibition runs from February 23 until March 9, with more than 450 exhibitors participating. The Bank of Alexandria, the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development, Cairo Festival City Mall, and the European Union are sponsoring the event.

During the exhibition, Shalaby emphasized the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities' continuous commitment to promote handicrafts and support sustainable industries that have positive impacts on local communities.

"This aligns with the objectives of sustainable development and Egypt's Vision 2030, particularly the goal of revitalizing Egyptian heritage," Shalaby noted.

Highlighting the importance of this exhibition, the Vice Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Tourism Affairs also mentioned that many tourists visiting Egypt are interested in visiting handicraft areas, goods stores, and tourist bazaars as part of their tourism programs. "Holding exhibitions like this can open new markets, create marketing opportunities for local products and industries, and support industries related to tourism."

It is worth noting that "Diarna 2024" is one of the Ministry of Social Solidarity's initiatives to promote development and support small projects, as part of the political leadership's interest in promoting sustainable development and involving local communities in the production process.
