Day 10 of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup marked the thrilling conclusion of the group stage for Groups A and B, delivering unforgettable moments, dramatic twists, and emotional farewells. With knockout round places at stake, every match carried weight — and the players rose to the occasion.

From PSG’s clinical composure to Al Ahly and Porto’s chaotic eight-goal thriller, the day had everything football fans crave. Here’s a full breakdown of the results, key highlights, and how social media reacted to the drama.

Paris Saint-Germain 2–0 Seattle Sounders

At the iconic Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Paris Saint-Germain confirmed their dominance in Group B with a professional 2–0 win over the Seattle Sounders. Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia opened the scoring with a composed strike after a spell of sustained PSG pressure. Later, Achraf Hakimi doubled the lead, finishing off a rapid counterattack that showcased PSG’s pace and tactical discipline.

Seattle tried to mount a response, but PSG’s midfield suffocated any chance of creativity. Goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma preserved the clean sheet with a spectacular diving save late in the match.

Fans lit up social media with praise for PSG’s poise. “This is the most balanced version of PSG in years,” one post read on X (formerly Twitter), while another quipped, “Kvara and Hakimi just cooked Seattle like it was preseason.” Seattle, winless in the group, exited quietly—but with admiration for their spirited, if overmatched, efforts.

Atlético Madrid 1–0 Botafogo

In a tense, tactical battle, Atlético Madrid defeated Botafogo 1–0 thanks to a late strike by Antoine Griezmann in the 87th minute. The Spanish side dominated possession but were repeatedly frustrated by Botafogo’s compact defense and solid goalkeeping.

Despite the win, Atlético’s campaign came to a heartbreaking end. On goal difference, they were eliminated, while Botafogo progressed to the Round of 16 as group runners-up behind PSG.

Social media was ablaze with conflicting emotions. Spanish fans expressed frustration: “How do you go out with 6 points?!” one post exclaimed. Brazilian supporters, meanwhile, reveled in the underdog story: “Botafogo just eliminated Atlético without even scoring today. What a journey!” Botafogo’s resilience, despite the defeat, made them one of the group stage’s biggest surprises.

Inter Miami 2–2 Palmeiras

The most dramatic match of the day took place at Hard Rock Stadium, where Inter Miami and Palmeiras delivered a thrilling 2–2 draw that saw both teams secure qualification. Miami surged ahead with a stylish finish from Tadeo Allende, followed by a classic moment of brilliance from Luis Suárez, who weaved past defenders before scoring what many called the goal of the day.

However, Palmeiras came storming back in the final ten minutes. Paulinho slotted one in at the 80th minute, and Mauricio equalized just seven minutes later with a curling effort that silenced the Miami crowd.

Lionel Messi has played 33 group stages in total with Argentina, Barcelona, PSG, and Inter Miami.

Social media exploded after the match. “Suárez might be old, but he’s still cold,” one fan wrote. But the real buzz was around a halftime moment when Lionel Messi exchanged shirts with Palmeiras’s teenage prodigy Estevão ‘Messinho’ Willian. Fans declared it a symbolic moment: “Messi passing the torch to Messinho — this is football heritage.”

Before Palmeiras' match with Inter Miami, Murilo said, "I'm Team CR7." He was then asked if he would imitate Ronaldo's famous 'Siu' goal celebration if he scores, Murilo said: "Yes, yes. I will do it."

Both teams advanced—Palmeiras topping Group A on goal difference and Inter Miami creating history as the first MLS club to reach the Club World Cup knockout stages.

FC Porto 4–4 Al Ahly

In what was arguably the wildest game of the tournament so far, FC Porto and Al Ahly played out a stunning 4–4 draw at MetLife Stadium. Egyptian striker Wessam Abou Ali lit up the match with a historic hat-trick, scoring in the 15th, 45+2’ (penalty), and 51st minutes. Ali Ben Romdhane added another for Al Ahly, who looked set for a victory that would keep their hopes alive.

But Porto had other plans. They clawed back with goals from Rodrigo Mora, William Gomes, and Samu Aghehowa, before the 41-year-old legend Pepe headed in a dramatic equalizer in the dying minutes.

Despite the exhilarating scoreline, both sides were eliminated. Their previous results meant the draw left them stuck at the bottom of Group A.

Fans reacted with both amazement and heartbreak. “This was football chaos. Defenses forgot it was a competitive match,” joked one user, while Egyptian fans praised Abou Ali’s performance: “A hat-trick on this stage? He’s made history even in exit.” Portuguese fans, meanwhile, saluted Pepe’s never-say-die spirit, calling him “eternal.”
