Germany has launched a groundbreaking online visa application platform, streamlining the process for individuals seeking to work, study, or reunite with family in the country.
Effective January 1, 2025, the portal allows applicants to select from 28 categories of national visas and is accessible across all 167 German visa offices worldwide.
Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock heralded the initiative as "a real administrative revolution," emphasizing its importance in addressing Germany's acute labor shortage.
Baerbock stated, "Germany is short at least 400,000 skilled workers annually.
"At times like these, we cannot afford to downright put the best off coming here to roll up their sleeves because of long paper application forms and even longer waiting periods.”
The portal underscores Germany's commitment to efficient, accessible immigration processes, reflecting its role as a global hub for skilled professionals and students.
