BERLIN, Nov. 14 (SEE)- Germany plans to invest around 3 billion euros in artificial intelligence research and development until 2025.
Europe's biggest economy seeks to shrink the software-related innovation gap between its self, the United States, and Asia.
This comes as Berlin's concern over the challenges posed by digital technology and industrial intelligence of export-based industries is growing.
The project reflects Germany's anxiety over the technological transformation that may disrupt existing social models.
Germany's Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Peter Altmaier said on Wednesday that Berlin aims to reach a leading position in the artificial intelligence field, whether in research or application.
"We want to promote the use of artificial intelligence applications in trade and commerce," he said.
He added that Germany aims to develop a technique that has a profound impact, such as artificial intelligence, that preserves fundamental social values and inpidual rights.
