The German Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador and confirmed its intention to expel two members of Russian embassy staff after a court ruled on Wednesday that Moscow had ordered the 2019 Berlin murder of a Georgian citizen.
Noteworthy, a German court on Wednesday sentenced a Russian citizen to life in jail for killing a former Chechen rebel leader in Berlin at the behest of Moscow. The court said that the killing was ordered by Russian authorities.
The Russian Embassy in Berlin dismissed the ruling on Wednesday. “We consider this verdict to be a biased, politically motivated decision that seriously aggravates the already difficult Russian-German relations,” Ambassador Sergei Nechayev said in a statement.
