The German government has approved arms exports worth at least €131 million (approximately $137 million) to Israel this year, according to a recent statement by the Ministry of Economy.
Responding to a parliamentary inquiry from a representative of the populist “BSW” party, the ministry revealed that no new approvals for war weapon exports to Israel have been issued since March 2023.
Between October 18 and November 19, Germany authorized the shipment of €23.6 million in military equipment to Israel, the ministry noted.
It clarified that the approved exports in this period comprised exclusively “other military equipment,” not classified as war weapons.
Earlier data indicated that, as of October 17, Germany had approved €107.5 million worth of arms shipments to Israel.
Combined with the recent figures, total arms exports from Germany to Israel in 2023 amount to €131.1 million.
The last approved war weapon export licenses to Israel were issued in February.
Despite criticism of Israel’s military actions in Gaza and Lebanon, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has reaffirmed his country’s commitment to supporting Israel with arms supplies.
Scholz emphasized the importance of adhering to international humanitarian law during operations against groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah.
