The German Air Force announced today, Wednesday, that it had intercepted three Russian military aircraft that were flying without sending signals in international airspace over the Baltic Sea.
The Air Force stated on Twitter that German and British forces had been deployed to clarify the identity of two Sukhoi Su-27 fighters and another Ilyushin Il-20.
As a NATO member, Germany participates in monitoring the air space over the Baltic states.
Security has been heightened for the Baltic states after Russia invaded Ukraine last year.
