Iconic Syrian singer George Wassouf has given fans a much-needed update on his health.

In an interview on Esaad Younis' Sahibat Al Saada, Wassouf stated that he was in good health.

"I spend my day watching TV and getting acquainted with the global news," he added.

The acclaimed singer added that he does not want to retire from singing as long as he is able to give because to him, retirement is equivalent to death.

Wassouf also expressed his appreciation to the Egyptian audience.

"I've missed my Egyptian fans. The word Egypt means many good things in my life. From the day I started when I was young,".

He added: "I was raised listening to Egyptian songs and late giants before Umm Kulthum as well as songs by her,".

"That is why 90% of my archive consists of Egyptian songs. The Egyptian audience loves from their heart and cannot lie.”

The acclaimed singer is set to meet his fans in Egypt on Sunday, October 29.

Wassouf, who was born on December 23, 1961, has a significantly large audience of fans in the Arab world and abroad.

He began singing at the age of 10 in his hometown Kafroun and was discovered two years later by his first manager and producer George Yazbeck at a wedding.

At the age of 19, the singer became famous after appearing on the Lebanese show “Studio El Fan” in 1980.

He is one of the most successful Arab singers selling over 60 million records worldwide.
