The former Egypt national team player Mohamed Nagy "Geddo" affirmed that his retirement came for several reasons, including the long suspension of competitions due to the Corona virus in 2020.

In statements to Ontime Sports channel early Sunday Geddo indicated that he felt bad after announcing his decision to retire via Twitter.

Geddo said: "The Corona period was one of the reasons for my decision to retire, I could have played for a longer period, but I was exhausted mentally and physically, and I consulted many people whom I trust, such as Essam El Hadary, Hossam Ghaly, Mohamed Zidane and Emad Metaeb,"

"I felt bad after I wrote on Twitter that I have decided to retire, my wife was not aware of my decision and was surprised when many people sent her messages on her phone telling her that I had become a trend after announcing the decision," he added.

He concluded: "I cried after my decision to retire. I was hoping to retire while playing for Al Ahly SC. If someone told me in my early days about what happened in my career I would never have believed him."
