Fuel prices in Germany have risen significantly over the past week, with the German Automobile Club (DAC) reporting that the average daily price of premium E10 gasoline nationwide was 1,731 euros per liter on Tuesday, an increase of 3.5 cents compared to the previous week.
Diesel prices also rose by 3.3 cents to 1,663 euros per liter. This continues the upward trend seen over the past few weeks. Just four weeks ago, a liter was around 8 cents cheaper. This brings fuel prices to levels similar to those seen in the summer of last year.
The current jump in fuel prices on a weekly basis is primarily due to the rise in the price of carbon dioxide at the start of the new year, which was not the case on the comparison day last week (December 31), as this increase contributed to a price increase of around 3 cents per liter. In addition, the Automobile Club pointed out that crude oil prices had risen compared to last week, which also contributed to the price increase, according to dpa.
