France is set to host a landmark summit on artificial intelligence (AI) on February 10-11, 2025, with a focus on the environmental impact of AI, its accessibility, and global governance.
The summit will be held at the historic Grand Palais in Paris, where leaders from various sectors will gather to discuss the future of AI technology.
The announcement, made by the Élysée Palace, highlighted that French President Emmanuel Macron had mentioned the summit during the G20 Summit in November.
Over 1,000 influential figures, including heads of state, business leaders, researchers, NGOs, and artists, will attend.
Among the expected attendees are former US President Donald Trump, billionaire Elon Musk, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has already confirmed his participation.
The event aims to place France and Europe at the forefront of the global AI landscape while raising public awareness about the key issues surrounding AI technology.
The summit will focus on three primary goals: developing AI that is more sustainable and serves the public interest, implementing more inclusive global governance, and fostering international collaboration.
Leading up to the summit, there will be scientific gatherings in Paris on February 6-7, bringing together researchers and economists to discuss AI's implications.
Additionally, cultural events will be held on February 8-9 to showcase the intersection of AI and the arts.
Macron will host world leaders and prominent figures at the Grand Palais on February 10, marking the official start of the summit.
The Élysée has also announced that President Macron will meet with a group of American business leaders and academics starting December 6 to prepare for the summit and present France's vision for AI.
