France's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Nicolas de Rivière, emphasized the importance of mobilizing international efforts to stop the escalation between Israel and Lebanon.
In a special remarks to Al Arabiya Al Hadath news TV channel on Saturday, the French envoy said that the escalation on the border between Israel and Hezbollah is extremely concerning, adding that there is a high likelihood of a full-scale war between the two sides, which would be a real disaster.
He stressed the need for the international community to exert efforts to facilitate dialogue and reach peaceful solutions to avoid the catastrophic consequences of war and its impact on innocent civilians, adding that the tragic situation witnessed in the region over the past seven months is enough.
He pointed out that if the war between Israel and Lebanon expands, it will turn into a regional war with the participation of all regional actors, affirming that his country is closely monitoring the ongoing events and is in a state of full alert.
