France opened their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign with a solid 2-0 victory over Ukraine on Friday evening.
The match was played at the Miejski Stadium in Poland, as Ukraine continue to host games away from home.
Michael Olise gave Les Bleus the perfect start, striking after just 10 minutes following a well-placed cross from Bradley Barcola. Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé then sealed the win in the 82nd minute with France’s second goal.
In the same group, Iceland cruised to a commanding 5-0 win over Azerbaijan.
