France's Foreign Minister Stéphane Séjourné expressed his hope today (Monday) that the European Union would impose sanctions on Israelis who commit acts of violence against Palestinians in the West Bank, according to Reuters.

Last Thursday, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates issued a statement condemning in the strongest terms what it described as "violations and crimes" by Israeli forces and settlers in the occupied West Bank.

The statement read that what the occupation forces and armed settler militias are doing in the West Bank is the other face of the Gaza Strip's version of extermination, which is gradually being applied and is expanding day by day to include the entire occupied West Bank, according to the Arab World News Agency.

It further stated that the Israeli authorities are trying to impose a policy of starvation in the West Bank, suffocating and destroying its already modest economies.

They are also trying to disrupt any geographic or economic unity between the West Bank and Gaza, to confiscate more Palestinian lands and deepen settlement activities.
