Donald Trump's net worth increased by more than $4 billion. This means that for the first time ever, Trump has joined the ranks of the 500 richest people in the world on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, with a fortune of $6.5 billion.
Trump, 77, has been wealthy throughout his life, but his fortune, which previously peaked at $3.1 billion, was largely made up of real estate.
Trump owns approximately 58% of the new company, and although Trump will be prohibited from selling shares for at least six months, the assets he owns immediately led to a rise in his net worth on Bloomberg's list.
Facing a deadline to pay a more than $500 million fine in a New York financial fraud lawsuit, the state appeals court threw Trump a lifeline, reducing the amount he had to pay to $175 million — an amount he says he will cover.
Around the same time, his social media company Trump Media & Technology Group completed a 29-month merger, meaning shares worth billions of dollars on paper were now officially owned by Trump.
