The Egyptian Minister of Agriculture Al-Sayed el-Quseir announced the opening of the markets of the Philippines and Uzbekistan to Egyptian exports of citrus and onions for the first time, according to a report he received from Ahmed Al-Attar, head of the Egyptian agricultural quarantine.
The report stated that the procedures for opening the Philippine market to Egyptian citrus exports were concluded, and citrus exports can start as of June 15.
It is worth noting that the negotiations related to this file began between the Egyptian agricultural quarantine and its Philippine counterpart since 2019 and ended with a technical visit from the Philippine side to assess the Egyptian export system.
The report also stated that procedures for opening the Uzbekistan market to Egyptian onion exports have been completed for the first time.
It should be noted that Egyptian agricultural exports during the past few years are witnessing an unprecedented boom and an increasing demand from most global markets due to their quality, especially the markets of Europe, America and East Asia, after developing the agricultural quarantine system, applying the highest quality and phytosanitary standards, and opening more than 80 new export markets to Egyptian agricultural exports.
