Egypt's Foreign Minister (FM) Badr Abdel Atty received Chadian Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration, Chadians Abroad, and International Cooperation during his first visit to Egypt since assuming office in May 2024.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Sudanese Political and Civil Forces Conference held in Cairo.
Foreign Ministry official Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid stated that Abdel Atty received a message addressed to President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi from President Mahamat Idriss Déby, President of the Republic of Chad.
The message discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
The official spokesperson mentioned that the two ministers affirmed the special and longstanding historical relations between the two countries.
On his part, Abdel Atty noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is coordinating with other national entities to follow up on the implementation of existing joint cooperation programs between the two countries in agriculture, health, infrastructure, education, construction, and other priority sectors for both sides.
The meeting included an exchange of views between the two ministers on the overall developments in the political and security situation in Sudan.
This is particularly relevant as Sudan's neighboring countries are the most affected by the crisis and its humanitarian repercussions, given their hosting of hundreds of thousands of Sudanese refugees and the link between maintaining their national security and the security and stability of Sudan.
