Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, and his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov spoke over phone on Wednesday.
During the call, the two ministers discussed the latest developments in the Syrian arena, on the background of the recent developments taking place in northern Syria, where Minister Abdel-Aty affirmed Egypt’s firm and supportive position towards the Syrian state, its sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, stressing the extreme importance of protecting civilians in light of the dire repercussions of these developments on the security and stability of Syria and the entire region.
The two sides agreed on the importance of continuing the pace of joint coordination between the two countries.
The two ministers also exchanged views regarding the situation in the Middle East region, especially developments in Sudan, as well as the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, where they agreed on the necessity of reaching an immediate ceasefire.
