Badr Abdel-Atty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, participated today in the Arab Ministerial Contact Committee on Syria, held in Aqaba, Jordan.
During the meeting, he expressed Egypt’s firm rejection of Israel's incursions into the buffer zone with Syria and condemned Israel’s occupation of Syrian territories and violations of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement between Syria and Israel, calling it a breach of international law.
The minister also denounced Israel's systematic airstrikes targeting Syria’s military infrastructure and capabilities.
Ambassador Tameem Khalaf, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Minister Abdel-Aty underscored Egypt's position supporting the Syrian people during this critical time. He emphasized the importance of preserving Syria's unity, territorial integrity, and sovereignty while reinforcing state institutions to serve the Syrian people effectively.
Abdel-Atty further stressed the need to launch a comprehensive, Syrian-owned political process that includes all components of Syrian society, political factions, and social forces to achieve national reconciliation and ensure the success of the transitional process.
