During a phone call with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araqchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Dr. Badr Abdel Aty stressed the need to exercise self-restraint during this critical phase the region is going through, and to avoid taking any steps or actions that would contribute to escalating tensions in the region.
Ambassador Tamim Khalaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on Thursday that the call addressed the rapidly evolving situation in the region and in Gaza Strip.
Minister Abdel Aty reviewed Egypt's efforts to consolidate the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, begin implementing the second phase of the agreement, and work to contain the current escalation.
