Dr. Mohamed Maait, Minister of Finance, conducted an inspection tour of the Logistics Center, the Muharram Bey Tax Department, Alexandria, and the Tax and Customs Excellence Center, which is responsible for recording electronic invoices for small companies in that coastal governorate.
The minister's tour came as part of his keenness to monitor the field performance of tax departments across the country in the light of development projects and transformation of electronic systems that aim to move from an environmentally friendly environment paper-to-digital work in the tax and customs systems.
The Ministry of Finance aims to simplify procedures, and facilitate the business community.
During his field tour, the minister conducted open dialogues with workers; to get acquainted closely with the challenges to overcome them, and to be assured of the proper progress of work.
The minister also listened, during his tour of the logistic center, during which he was accompanied by Dr. Mona Nasser, Assistant Minister for Follow-up and Development of Customs, and El Shahat Ghaturi, Head of the Customs Authority, to an explanation from Ashraf Ibrahim, Head of Operations Sector at the Egyptian Company for Electronic Commerce Technology (MTS), about the performance of the single window system.
He also listened to the complaints of some dealers with customs, directing the need to enhance coordination with supply agencies such as control over imports and exports, food safety and others.
He directed to hold regular meetings of the assistant minister for follow-up and development of customs, and the head of the Customs Authority, every week with workers in logistic centers.
The minister also directed to study the possibility of benefiting from the young talents in the logistic centers of the Egyptian Company for Electronic Commerce Technology (MTS) in performing some customs functions. Which contributes to the optimal utilization of human resources in the logistic centers.
