Spanish media reports revealed that the FIFA Council has approved the allocation of part of the revenues from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, scheduled to be held next summer in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, to support the Gaza Strip.

The Spanish newspaper AS reported that the FIFA Council held a meeting in Doha, on the sidelines of the final match between Paris Saint-Germain and Flamengo in the FIFA Intercontinental Club Cup.

The newspaper added that during the meeting held by FIFA in Doha, it was agreed to allocate part of the revenues from television broadcasting rights and ticket sales for the 2026 World Cup to support the Gaza Strip, in an attempt to help the Palestinian people overcome the crisis they are facing following the end of the war with the Zionist entity, which lasted for more than two years.

The newspaper explained that FIFA decided to allocate a financial reward of no less than €10 million for each national team participating in the next edition of the World Cup.

Additional financial incentives will be added depending on each team’s progress and advancement to the later stages of the tournament.

It also noted that increasing the number of participating teams to 48 has led to higher revenues from television broadcasting rights and increased demand for tickets.
