Egypt topped the list of the most spending African countries during the last winter transfer period, according to a report issued by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA).
FIFA revealed that the winter transfer market in Egypt witnessed spending of about $1.98 million, and Egyptian clubs received transfer fees of $6.49 million.
Al-Ahly club contracted with 4 players during the current winter transfer period, namely Ashraf Ben Sharqi, Slovenian Gradisar, Ahmed Reda, and Mustafa Al-Ash, while Zamalek club strengthened its ranks with 4 deals, namely: Mahmoud Jihad, midfielder of Farco, Ahmed Hossam, defender of El Gouna, Salah El Din Musaddaq, defender of Nahdet Zemmamra of Morocco, and Ahmed Al-Jafali, winger of Tunisian Union Monastir.
In the same context, the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) revealed that the world's clubs spent $2.35 billion during the winter transfer window, while the Saudi League ranked fifth in the list of the most spending competitions. South Africa came in second place with $650,000 spent during the winter transfer window, followed by Morocco in third place with $547,000, Tunisia in fourth place with $307,000, and Libya in fifth place with $305,000.
According to the report, January 2025 saw 5,863 international transfers in men’s professional football, the highest number of transfers in a January transfer window and an increase of nearly 20% compared to the same month in 2024.
The English Premier League topped the list of the world’s top spenders last month, with a total of $621.6 million, while Manchester City spent $224 million during the last winter transfer window to sign Egypt star Omar Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez, Abdulkader Khosanov, Vitor Reis and Jumaa Bah....
