Mohamed Zaki El Sewedy, Chairman, Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) met with Wamkele Mene, Secretary General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and his accompanying delegation at the headquarters of the Federation of Egyptian Industries.
During his meeting, El Sewedy confirmed that FEI is looking with great interest to the agreement to liberalize intra-trade at the African Free Trade Zone, given the great importance it represents for the economies of the continent.
El Sewedy also explained that the Egyptian industry has great experiences and expertise that could be transferred to the African economy. He referred to the FEI's experiences in the system of developing human resources development programs, technical education, vocational training, and corporate social responsibility.
He said that these experiences could be transferred to many African countries. He also stressed the importance of looking at the African continent and its capabilities from the perspective of integration at the level of supply chains and value-added chains, in order to achieve a product that could take the mark of Made in Africa.
He referred to Nissan to expand its investments in Egypt by making use of the auto feeding industries at the level of producing countries for those industries, in a way that achieves a greater volume of production directed to Africa and to foreign markets at the same time.
El Sewedy pointed out the importance of harmonizing customs specifications, regulations and labor laws in promoting trade and investment and activating the African free trade area. He pointed out the importance of building on previous experiences, including the experience of the European Union, as well as the importance of adopting clear procedures for settling commercial disputes that may occur in a clear and easy way in terms of its procedures.
