Farouk Hosny Foundation Organizes Sculpture Art Award Seminar

Farouk Hosny Foundation for Culture and Arts resumed its art awards seminars, on Tuesday, with a seminar dedicated to sculpture.

The El Hanager Center of Arts hosted the third seminar of the foundation. A number of jury members of the Sculpture Competition took part in the event.

The jury of the Sculpture award included Dr. Mohammad Al-Alawy, professor at Faculty of Fine Arts, Helwan University, and the former vice dean for Graduate Studies and Research of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Helwan University, alongside, Artist Nagi Farid, and Dr. Essam Darwish, Professor at Department of Sculpture, Faculty of Art Education, Helwan University.

It also included Dr. Marwa Youssef, the former head of the Department of Sculpture, Faculty of Fine Arts at Zamalek, and Artist Ehab El Labban, the director of the Center of Arts.

The winners of the 2023 Sculpture Awards participated in the two-hour event, alongside a number of the foundation's members.

Darwish moderated the session. Defining sculpture and the issue of identity and the latest trends in it was the kicking-off topic of the seminar by Al-Alawy. He also discussed the impact of the artist's emotions and experiences in creating art.

Shortly, the speakers talked about the process of evaluating the submitted artworks at the competition.

On his side, Darwish talked about the standards that artist needs to follow, and how the artist defines good art. He also pointed out the importance of creativity, and experimentation in the journey of the artist. 

Finally, El Labban talked about the competition, and how many rising artists in the domestic scene don't tackle experimental ideas, and creative techniques, that's why competitions that are dedicated to arts, and creativity give artists the freedom to innovate.
