US technology giant Facebook has launched a version of the Messenger app for Windows and iOS computers, to facilitate video communications amid a state of global lockdown.
Facebook indicated that the main purpose of running the app at this particular time is to help users communicate via video calls by relying on computers, and providing a greater possibility to see the conditions of their friends and family members during COVID-19 quarantine.
Among the most prominent features of the new application is that it enables the user to make a video call and perform other tasks on personal computers at the same time.
It is also distinct from phone's Messenger app as it provides the ability to see images on the large computer screen.
The new app will save computer users the trouble of entering each time the web browser and the official Messenger website when needed to make video calls or communicate with others, as it is a standalone application that can be downloaded to the desktop via the Microsoft or Mac App online store.
