Economic experts emphasized that true development is not measured by wealth accumulation alone, but by investing in people, knowledge, and fair governance systems that foster trust and sustainability.
Speaking at a panel discussion during the 44th Sharjah International Book Fair, Dr. Amr Saleh, Economic Advisor at the Sharjah Department of Economic Development, and financial expert Abdullah Saif Al Attar discussed how governance, transparency, and responsible growth are essential for future economies shaped by digital transformation and artificial intelligence.
Dr. Saleh noted that “wealth without education, healthcare, and institutional integrity remains mere numbers,” stressing that sustainable development is a moral duty toward future generations.
Al Attar highlighted that transparency builds investor confidence, adding that modern competitiveness must protect weaker market players and promote long-term stability.
The session concluded that balanced growth requires not just economic expansion, but also shared responsibility, ethical governance, and continuous investment in human capital.
