The European Union (EU) and the Arab League (LAS) voiced strong support for the two-state solution during an international peace conference dedicated to resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Speaking on behalf of the EU, a representative emphasized the bloc’s "full commitment to peace and the two-state solution," asserting that the European Union is "the largest provider of aid and support to the Palestinian Authority."
The EU also called for equal security guarantees for both Palestinians and Israelis, urging global actors to join a coalition committed to advancing the two-state solution. "We expect Israel to implement the agreements it has signed, but this is not happening at the moment," the EU representative stated.
Meanwhile, Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit issued a strong rebuke of ongoing Israeli actions in Gaza, saying, "Palestinians have been subjected to genocide for months." He stressed that a new, peaceful Middle East must begin with a just and viable two-state solution.
"The road to stability and security in the region goes through the establishment of a Palestinian state," Aboul Gheit declared.
The statements come amid ongoing international concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and stalled negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian leadership.
